Region 22 Emergency Management Director Tim Newman and Scottsbluff Volunteer Center Director Jill Allen join Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Friday morning.

Region 22 Emergency Management will be hosting a workshop on September 29th to develop a Community Organizations Active in Disaster group, or COAD. A COAD brings together leaders from voluntary, faith-based, civic, fraternal, business, non-profit, governmental and school-based organizations to develop plans to aid the community during times of disaster.

The workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on September 28th at the Gering Civic Center. A lunch will be provided.

The 5th annual Scottsbluff Parks & Recreation's "Harvest Night" will be this Friday, September 25th from 5 to 9 p.m. at Riverside Park in Scottsbluff.

Activities include hay rack rides, corn bins, smore's & hotdogs at the Firepits, a glow art wall, needle in a haystack, glowing floating pumpkins/bonfire, petting zoo, and an outdoor movie area.

This is a family event that is free of charge to attend, and is open to the public.

Father Jonathon Sorensen from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church joins Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Tuesday morning.

Fr. Sorensen is on the program to invite everyone to attend the Our Lady of Guadalupe Annual Fiesta and Mexican Dinner on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21 at the Guadalupe Center, 1200 East 9th Street in Scottsbluff.

The two day event is a celebration of independence and Mexican culture.

On Saturday, at the Guadalupe Center, there will be a talent show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prizes for the the top performers will be awarded. To enter the contest call Pam at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 308-632-2845.

There also will be Karaoke from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Food and craft vendors will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be a fund day for the entire family. The cost is just two cans of food per family that will be donated to the food pantry.

On Sunday the Guadalupe Center will host the the Annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Mexican Dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy an authentic Mexican food dinner and entertainment provided by the Guadalupanos Dancers and the band, Los Alegres del Corrido. Carry out is also available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost of the dinner is just $10, with proceeds supporting the Guadalupe Center.

They are on the program to promote the NEXT Young Professionals 9 Hole Golf Tournament to be held at the Scottsbluff Country Club on Sunday, September 20th from 3 to 6 p.m.

It will be a four man scramble. The cost is $40 for members and $50 for non-members.

NEXT Young Professionals will donate money from selling mulligans and proceeds from 50/50 drawing to United Way of Western Nebraska.
